Dr Graeme Pollock

After graduating in Pathology 1981, Dr Graeme Pollock was appointed medical researcher at Queensland University, investigating organ preservation for transplantation. This work evolved into a Doctoral Thesis on the Vascular Aspects of Organ Cryopreservation (freezing preservation). As part of this research he worked at the Medical Research Council Cryopreservation Unit at the University of Cambridge in the UK during 1983 and 1984.

In 1991, after returning to Melbourne, he established Victoria's first Eye Banking service, the Lions Corneal Donation Service. He continues to manage this service. In 2004 Graeme completed his Master of Public Health at Monash University.
