The Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) comprises five research divisions and an administrative sector.

CERA has a Board that includes a representative from each of its stakeholders. Its funds are supervised by a Finance and Audit Committee. All research activities are reviewed and approved by a Research Committee. The membership of the Research Committee is itself approved by the National Health and Medical Research Council.

To support its research, CERA seeks funds from government, foundations and other agencies by means of competitive grant applications and other requests. It also receives support from the Eye Research Australia Foundation.
